Jaisalmer, named after Rajput King Rawal Jaisal in 1156 CE. The city lies in the Great Indian Thar Desert showing the rich heritage & culture. It was an oasis in old camel trade routes back then.
Popularly known as the “Golden City” because of the yellow sand & yellow sandstone used throughout the architecture of the town. It is famous for its historical monuments, magnificent forts, glorious heritage with art craved on stone architecture spread over the whole city, showcasing its royal grandeur. It has one of the most beautiful structured in Rajasthan.
Jaisalmer is also the home to the exotic animals & birds like black buk, chinkara, desert fox, sand grouse etc.
The Jaisalmer Fort is considered as the UNESCO World Heritage Site stands amidst the great Thar Desert on Trikuta Hill. The entire complex of the fort comprises of temples, houses & shops. It is also known as Golden Fort or Sonar Qila, this fort offers great picturesque views of the city. Jaisalmer is also famous for the vibrant shopping scenes, local treasure & Rajathani Handicrafts from colorful textiles to handicrafts it offers a wide variety of shopping.
